Entering the Aerospace Segment with the New BUBR Grinding Machine

We are proud to introduce our latest innovation in cylindrical grinding – the BUBR model. The first machine of this series was successfully delivered to the legendary aircraft manufacturer Blaník Aircraft CZ s.r.o., confirming our company's ability to provide high-end technological solutions for the most demanding industries.

Evolution of a Bestseller: Compact Dimensions, Maximum Precision

The BUBR grinding machine is the direct successor to our long-standing bestseller, the BUB E type. While it is a compact machine designed for workpieces up to 650 kg, it represents a major technological leap in terms of precision and versatility. The key innovation is the automatically controlled B-axis (swivelling grinding wheelhead) with a minimum programmable step of 0.0001°. This configuration allows for the mounting of up to three tools simultaneously – for example, wheels for external grinding, internal grinding, and a superfinishing unit. This makes it possible to completely grind both external surfaces and internal bores in a single clamping, significantly increasing precision and eliminating errors caused by re-clamping the workpiece. Tailor-made Technological Solutions for Blaník Aircraft CZ s.r.o.
The project for Blaník Aircraft was not just about delivering a machine, but about developing a comprehensive grinding technology for the specific needs of the aerospace industry. The requirements included grinding atypical materials and thin-walled structural components, where extreme demands are placed on machine stability and sensitivity.

From the very first meeting, we fine-tuned the technology to meet strict aerospace standards. Versatility was key – the customer ultimately opted for the version with 3 meters between centers to ensure the machine could cover future projects as well.

Combining Tradition and the Future

The machine is equipped with the state-of-the-art Sinumerik ONE control system and a new design housing from ASTOS. For FERMAT, this successful installation in Letňany marks an important milestone. The aerospace sector is an industry built on trust and uncompromising standards, and it is an environment where our new machines perform at their best. Even in today's challenging economic situation in the engineering industry, we are pleased to realize such specific projects that push the boundaries of Czech engineering. The successful reference from Blaník is already opening doors for negotiations with other major manufacturers in the aerospace sector.
